1851-O Liberty Head Gold Quarter Eagle Bass Collection PCGS MS63 Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the third Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint, the coin’s obverse features a left-facing profile of Miss Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed “Liberty.” The reverse depicts an eagle with outswept wings and a shield over its breast. The eagle’s talons are clutching arrows and an olive branch. The denomination, 2 ½ D. appears below the eagle. Struck in 90% gold and 10% copper, the diameter is 18mm. Once part of the world-famous Bass Collection, the notation H.W. Bass Jr. Coll appears on the label. A terrific addition to any collection! |
