1882-CC Liberty Head Five Dollar Gold Half Eagle NGC MS63 Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the obverse features a profile portrait of Liberty facing left wearing a small coronet-style crown inscribed LIBERTY. The reverse features an eagle with outstretched wings clutching arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Struck in 90% gold and 10% copper, the coin is 21.6 mm in diameter. In 1882, less than 7,000 of these gold beauties were struck at the historic Carson City mint. |
